Make My Christmas (Flying Books)

A light snow is depositing tiny spires beside the sienna-clay chimneys of Ladbroke Grove, London, as Charlotte O’Rourke double-checks facts with her source. Soon she'll file her last story (on swaps with timing mismatches) and hop on a flight back to New Jersey for the holidays. Her rosy-cheeked daughters and first granddaughter sparkle in her mind's eye. She's packed Christmas puddings to flame and crackers to break open. It's going to be a real life fantasy – if she doesn't miss the plane... I wrote the novella, "Make My Christmas", so that people traveling home for the holidays could read about a family just packed with steamer trunks of resentment, long memories -- longer than their own lives -- busting its hinges with even more angst and emotional turmoil than their own family on its worst day. And, upon finishing the story and landing wherever, they will feel somehow...fortified.
